What the hell why don't you want her to have a surname? So she'll be the weird one in school that doesn't have a last name? GOD this is taking "yoo-neek" too far. Your surname is special. You can trace your family back using it, and it connects you to cousins, long lost aunties, everyone. Your child needs a last name. Don't be thick and make yourself and your daughter look ridiculous.



Just let her have a surname, it will just cause problems in the future - for example, on her class register: it's organised by surnames. She'll be the only one who doesn't have one. Filling in the info on school exams and job applications - what will she do for the surname box? "Erm, excuse me miss, I don't have a surname because my Mum thought it would be quite cool not to have one?" Yeah, that sounds great.
